It featured talent from All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and Pro Wrestling NOAH, marked the first Wrestle Kingdom with Hiroshi Tanahashi serving as NJPW president, and was headlined by SANADA (c) vs Tetsuya Naito for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
