Shriya Saran

Biography

Shriya Saran (born Shriya Saran Bhatnagar; 11 September 1982) is an Indian actress and model who works predominantly in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi cinema, as well as international and Malayalam productions. Trained in Kathak, she appeared in the music video "Thirakti Kyun Hawa" by Renu Nathan before beginning her acting career.

Saran made her acting debut in the Telugu romantic drama Ishtam (2001), followed by roles in Santosham (2002) and Nuvve Nuvve (2002). Her subsequent films include V. V. Vinayak's Tagore (2003), Nenunnanu (2004), S. S. Rajamouli's action film Chatrapathi (2005), and Shankar's Tamil film Sivaji: The Boss (2007). She made her Hindi leading debut in Mohit Suri's crime drama Awarapan (2007) and appeared in Susi Ganesan's superhero film Kanthaswamy (2009). Her English-language credits include James Dodson's The Other End of the Line (2008) and Deepa Mehta's adaptation of Salman Rushdie's Midnight's Children (2012). She also appeared in Vikram K. Kumar's Manam (2014) and Krish Jagarlamudi's historical film Gautamiputra Satakarni (2017).

She portrayed Nandini Salgaonkar in Nishikant Kamat's crime thriller Drishyam (2015) and its sequel Drishyam 2 (2022), both opposite Ajay Devgn. She played Sarojini in S. S. Rajamouli's RRR (2022), appeared in the multilingual period action film Kabzaa (2023), and played Mandira Mathur in Mihir Desai's drama series Showtime (2024). Her later credits include Karthik Ghattamaneni's Telugu fantasy adventure Mirai (2025), Karthik Subbaraj's Retro (2025), and the space drama series Space Gen: Chandrayaan (2026).
