Biography

Born in Beijing and raised in Hong Kong, Colleen begins making analogue, experimental films when she studied at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She moved to New York in 2011 and graduated from the MFA writing/directing program of Tisch-New York University. Her directorial works includes Rectangibles, premiered at Edinburgh International Film Festival and established her style of storytelling; The Stars The Sun The Moon, shot in Hong Kong on 35mm, was supported by the Hong Kong Fresh Wave International Film Grant; and That is Circling All Round the Sun, a landscape driven piece shot at the Spiral Jetty in Utah and currently in festival circuit. As a cinematographer, she has shot films in more than 15 countries and recently nominated for Best Cinematography for her work After Forever.
