Biography
Manuel Eyzaguirre is a Peruvian filmmaker, film editor, consultant, and instructor based in Chiclayo, Lambayeque. He is a promoter of regional cinema in northern Peru and a pioneer of guerrilla filmmaking in the area. His work explores hybrid formats between documentary and fiction, experimental cinema, and non-fiction, focusing on social and family memory, identity, and self-reflection.
He received the DAFO Economic Stimulus grants from the Peruvian Ministry of Culture for the production of his feature films Libertad and Domingo, both completed and in distribution. His short films Viajero (2012) and Verano (2014) won the National Short Film Competition organized by the Ministry of Culture and received the Best Short Film award at the Ibero-American Digital Film Festival (FIACID). His filmography includes the feature film Seamos Perú (2024, co-director), Parásito (in post-production), and his work as editor for the documentary De Chiclayo al Vaticano: El camino del Papa León XIV.
Alongside his directorial work, he serves as an advisor for award-winning regional film projects funded by national grants. He is currently co-directing the hybrid feature film Nadie Mira alongside Liang Bacilio and serves as the director of Casa Victoria, arte y cine, an independent platform dedicated to artistic training and regional film production.
