Biography

Daniel Chávez-Ontiveros is an award-winning Mexican filmmaker and film editor based in the California Bay Area. He is known primarily for his editing work on documentary features, including two films directed by Rodrigo Reyes, 499 and Sansón and Me — the latter co-edited with Andrea Chignoli — both of which screened at major festivals including Tribeca, Hot Docs, and Sheffield Doc/Fest. He also edited Unseen, directed by Set Hernandez Rongkilyo, and American Pachuco: The Legend of Luis Valdez.

He was selected as a fellow of the 2022 Karen Schmeer Film Editing Fellowship, a distinction recognizing outstanding documentary editors, and is listed in the BIPOC Documentary Editors directory.
