Biography

Jhilan Alfarisi, professionally known as Faris, is a 23-year-old multidisciplinary filmmaker, cinematographer, and visual creator born in Jakarta, Indonesia. His journey in the visual arts grew organically, starting from documenting school events to executing dynamic commercial projects and independent films. Along the way, he discovered that the camera is not merely a tool for capturing images, but a medium for preserving raw emotions and crafting compelling stories—turning his passion into a profound calling.

Guided by a core philosophy of "collaboration and excellence," Faris brings a versatile skill set that spans from conceptualization and field cinematography to post-production and color grading. His comprehensive understanding of the production pipeline allows him to collaborate seamlessly across departments while fiercely protecting a director's vision.

He recently showcased his technical expertise as the Director of Photography, Color Assistant, and Editor for the acclaimed short film 'Our Mini Research' (Sebuah Riset Kecil). Driven by an ambition to compete in the international film industry, Faris continues to hone his craft with the ultimate goal of directing and producing his own feature films.
