Alexander Westrin

Biography

Alexander Westrin is a Swedish director, writer and actor.

His family moved frequently while he was growing up, and cinema became a constant. Films offered a sense of home as his surroundings changed, accompanying some of his happiest moments and helping him through some of his hardest. His interest in filmmaking grew from that connection and the hope of making something that might mean as much to someone else.

Alexander has more than a decade of theatre and performance experience. Alongside this, he has spent years experimenting with filmmaking and honing his craft through writing, directing, acting and editing. That performance background shapes his work with actors. He is particularly interested in how atmosphere, images and sound can draw an audience into a character’s experience.

His debut short film, Frozen in Frame, is an English-language psychological thriller made independently in Sweden with a small international cast and crew.
