At the height of the second wave of the pandemic, the team at Charité Intensive Care Unit 43 is pushing the limits of what humans are capable of on a daily basis: proven therapies are failing and covid patients who were thought to be stable are suddenly deteriorating.

Using all the resources of high-tech intensive care medicine, the team at Charité Ward 43 struggles to keep its patients alive. Before their covid infection, they were in the midst of life; now they have to fight for it.

It motivates the entire team at Charité's Intensive Care Unit 43 when Covid patients fight their way back to life despite a poor prognosis.

As the second wave of the pandemic subsides, the team at Charité Ward 43 can catch its breath. On the borderline between life and death, the doctors and nurses have demanded everything from intensive care medicine and from themselves.
