Badi Pratiyogita

Vashishtha teaches that the 64 arts each hold value and that one should compete only with oneself while striving for mastery. To demonstrate this, he arranges competitions in warfare, music, dance, games, and Vedic reading. His students excel, while Maricha and Subahu, who join only to outshine them, fail and slip away to avoid embarrassment.
