The Izu Peninsula was formed by long ago volcanic eruptions. It was designated as a UNESCO Global Geopark for its unique geological features. The peninsula boasts a distinctive natural environment, with magnificent views, hot springs and a deep-water bay. Residents have guarded their culture and live with appreciation for its rich nature.
